A Resolution is not the Solution
(or Weight loss solutions go well beyond New years resolutions)
Teri R Gentes
Okay, okay, okay. You have mastered in excuses, PH'D in New Years resolutions,
and taken the Oscar for your dramatic performance(s) vowing to commit to those
annual diet and fitness resolutions however the rewards have yet to manifest
your ideal state of health and wellness. Isn't it time to simply and without
the Ph d, mastered, Oscar winning drama on the ‘why is has not worked for you’,
resolve to take another approach?
Accomplishment Addictions
Teri Gentes
As we move into new millennium and towards greater consciousness (at least I like I like to think we are), I am constantly amazed at how we wear ‘busyness’ like a badge of honor. (And yes, I too am guilty of this). Confessing to our fellow co-workers, friends, family, that we have absolutely nothing to do – or that we choose to do nothing often stirs up fears we may be viewed as failure.
The Bad News Call
The flood of feelings and the reality of losing, letting go and ‘getting’ it
Teri R Gentes
A middle of the night, startled out of my sleep, the rings resounding through
the silent stillness, phone call. The ‘change life in a second’ happening about
to be revealed in the purpose of the call. The ‘can never go back, ever be
the same, never ever feel the same, news.’ It's a ‘hit in the head, blow to
the heart, robbing of breath,’ happening that takes my conscious and rational
thinking mind and turns it to feelings of initial, absolute and stunned refusal
to comprehend or accept, denial. “What, who” and “Oh my God!” are my initial
responses as an ominous weight begins to grip my gut. My head floods with thoughts
of stupid things that don't really matter or even seem to make any sense in
my struggle to comprehend. The utter shock, disbelief and attempt to absorb
the news, it numbs my mind and grips my body in tension. A fog moves in and
numbs my nerves. It is likely labeled ‘the initial phase’, yet it lasts awhile.
The Power of Attitude, the Blessings of Gratitude.
Teri R Gentes - Wellness Educator and Practitioner
“Life is as beautiful as your thoughts let it be.”
It's everywhere- beauty and grace and goodness and love. Your attitude totally
affects your experience of life; it is all about how you take it. When we look
for the good in any given situation we will find it and it is in every situation
no matter what. I know from my own personal experiences, trials and tribulations.
By all means, we do need to accept reality whatever it may be; yet more important is for each of us to realize how our attitude totally affects that reality (our experience of it) in profound ways. We learn our responses to given situations and circumstances and they vary from one culture to another. What is acceptable in one culture may be unconceivable in another. What brings delight to one soul may wreak havoc for another.
What the ‘Bleep’ Can I Eat?
Teri Gentes
Most folks are at a complete loss when it comes to ‘good’ nourishing foods.
For those that do tell me “I eat really well” I often cringe when
they describe in detail just what that perception means for them. Of course
with the maze of information in the market place it is no wonder people are
full of wondering. We are bombarded with. It's good for you, its bad for
you, it causes cancer, it prevents cancer. Drink milk for calcium - cows milk
is meant for baby cows . The dietary theories vary from one extreme to
another, each highly critical of one another with the resulting exasperated
reaction typically being - Holy jumping,
“What the #bleep*&% can I eat?”
A Return to Real.
Real Food - Real Health (info and encouragement on the way we eat)
With a love for fabulous foods that nourish the body, fuel the energy stores,
sate the cravings, impress the best (you and your loved ones), and feed the
passion for creativity - the foods I eat, the recipes I create, are with all
of this in mind and mouth. In my view, preparing and consuming food is about
fueling our physical self, massaging our mental state, stimulating our senses,
embracing our emotional moments, nourishing our nutritional needs, easing our
environmental concerns, and soaring our spirits.
Finding, Attaining, and Sustaining Peacefulness and Happiness
Teri R Gentes - Wholistic Wellness Educator and Practitioner
Marketers tell us we will find it with their miraculous products. Decades,
actually centuries of song lyrics and poems proclaim success finding happiness
and wholeness with another. Even more songs portray that the tragedies of lost
love and ended relationships are the cause of unbearable heartache and sorrow.

What is the secret to a healthy, strong, sexy and sound
body
and mind?
NO, no, no, and again No.
It is common Sense and a Sensible Diet.
It is activity and balance of work and play and rest.
It is in your head and your hands and your home more-so than simply what you are putting in your mouth.
The key to sustained weight loss is self love!
The quest for complete lifestyle wellness involves shifting many pre-conditioned
attitudes, habits and approaches to our every-days. In order to gain control
and take responsibility for our own well-being it is necessary to gain a better
understanding of our selves, our society, and the paradigms, (our ways of seeing/perceiving
things) that we live with.
