HABIT STACKING! It's proven to be the best way to imprint sustainable healthy, self-care habits into your life.

We all know how easy it is to be all gung-ho with grand intentions of healthy habits like drinking more water or exercising three times a week or getting to bed earlier and we ace it for a week and then... Oh that inevitable 'and then' when our grandiose intentions fall wayside to our internal default of doing what is familiar, easy and, yes habitual. Our brain loves familiar and routine.  Like a homing pigeon it narrows in on unconscious imprinted patterns. Similar to a GPS it goes where it's been before with ease.

Well YOU can hack this default pattern with the proven practice of HABIT STACKING.

So, what do you do for a living?
Oh, this familiar, imprinted, generic question we pose to people. I've been tripping over my various responses and how to capture the essence of my wellness coaching services for years. There has never been that one to two sentence  response that resonated with me.  Until now!

Finally on the trails today, in what I refer to as my walk and talk with Mother nature, Mother Earth and God or spirit time, it occurs to me as clear as day.

The BEST proteins with the MOST positive side effects

Did you know one medium size avocado has 4 grams protein and 9 - 13 grams fiber?

1/2 cup lentils has  9 grams protein and over
15 grams fiber.


Yes we need protein (essential amino acids) yet just as important - fiber!
It's the forgotten vitamin and far too neglected in most dietary approaches.


Health Canada recommends 25-38g
The American Heart Association recommends 25-30 grams.  


What's the average intake you wonder?
About half of this. It's no wonder  heart disease and colorectal cancer are tow of our top lifestyle related killers.


Any idea how much fiber you consume in a day or know the recommended intake?
It's wise to track it and begin gradually increasing your daily intake along with increasing hydration. This too is extremely important. 


Consumer Reports shares a great article on how to get more protein -
the highly coveted macro-nutrient - that just happens to deliver more fiber as well.
