MAPLE WALNUT ICE CRÈME– Super simple!
I’ve been told by all who have enjoyed this: ‘It’s the best non-dairy alternative to ice cream’ and yes it is good for you too! Enjoy in bless-ful health – even for breakfast.
The walnut oil adds a healthy dose of Omega 3’s and the nut or seed butter adds a fabulous whole food source of creaminess, protein and heart healthy fats.
It’s simply delicious and if you need a sweet in a hurry check out the tips below for a time saving hack along with yummy variations.
INGREDIENTS:
6 - 8 large very ripe bananas, cut into 1-2 inch chunks (4- 5 cups)
½ - 2/3 cup natural nut/seed butter – almond, cashew or SunButter
¼ cup real maple syrup
1 - 3 tbsp Maison Orphee walnut oil, optional
GARNISH:
Dark Chocolate shavings or cacao powder and chopped walnuts

- Prep time: 10 minutes plus freezing time
- Makes approx. 5 – 6 cups
INGREDIENTS:
6 - 8 large very ripe bananas, cut into 1-2 inch chunks (4- 5 cups)
½ - 2/3 cup natural nut/seed butter – almond, cashew or SunButter
¼ cup real maple syrup
1 - 3 tbsp Maison Orphee walnut oil, optional
GARNISH:
Dark Chocolate shavings or cacao powder and chopped walnuts
DIRECTIONS:
- Puree the ingredients in a high speed blender or food processor. Blend until smooth.
- Transfer to a long rectangular container with a lid. Freeze until firm. Approx 4 hours or overnight.
- Once the mixture is frozen, scoop into serving dishes and top with chocolate curls or shavings, or sprinkle with cacao powder. Top with walnuts and serve.
TERI'S TIPS:
- Chocolate lovers: add ¼ - 1/3 cup dark cacao powder before blending.
- Stir in toasted chopped walnuts, cocoa nibs, shredded coconut or rum soaked dried currants
- For a faster version of this make with frozen bananas that have been defrosted 10-15 mins before blending. Proceed as above and enjoy as soft-serve or freeze 1 hour before serving.
- For a nut-free version, omit the walnut oil and walnuts. Sub with toasted sunflower seeds or coconut ribbons for added crunch if desired.
