TERI’S CLASSIC MARGARITA
Made with only 3 ingredients

Oh, the yumminess of a classic, real ingredients, shaken margarita. It’s my fave version! You can taste the tequila. There is no processed sugar syrup used. The sweetness comes from the orange liqueur. And, very important, it must be shaken not blended! Salt the rim, with a fine grey sea salt from Maison Orphee.
Adding organic lime or lemon zest makes it even better.
INGREDIENTS:
1 oz tequila, your favorite brand
1 oz triple sec or Cointreau
1 oz lime juice, freshly squeezed - zest the lime first
1 cup ice – cubes or crushed
Sea salt and fresh lime wedges to garnish

DIRECTIONS:
- Run a lime wedge cut in the center around the rim of a martini, martini or rocks glass and swirl in sea salt. I keep a wide mouth glass jar with salt and lime or lemon zest just for this.
- Measure ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice and shake it really well, especially if you are using ice cubes. You want to break them up.
- Pour into your prepared glass, directly from the shaker for a margarita on the rocks into a stemmed glasses or rocks glass. I prefer using stemmed glasses so your drink stays icy cold. Garnish with a classic wedge of lime or maybe an orange wheel.
TERI’S TIPS:
- Garnish Option: Mix 2 tbsp sea salt and 1 heaping tsp organic lime zest into a wide mouthed container with a lid. Run your lime wedges over the rim of your glass and swirl the rim into your salt mixture. Store excess for your next round of drinks. I’m quite confident you will be making more than one of these.
- Rimming in sugar is an option if you like. I suggest using equal parts of salt and sugar if so. If you choose this route look for Lakanto zero calorie sugar made from Monk fruit. You can find it at www.rawelements.ca and use Teri for a 10% discount if ordering online.
- If you like to strain your margarita creating what I call a MARGRA-TINI, then be sure to shake it an extra long time so there are ice shards visible when you pour this golden elixir into a glass. Stems are essential if you’re serving your cocktail this way.
