Oh, this familiar, imprinted, generic question we pose to people. I've been tripping over my various responses and how to capture the essence of my wellness coaching services for years. There has never been that one to two sentence response that resonated with me. Until now!
Finally on the trails today, in what I refer to as my walk and talk with Mother nature, Mother Earth and God or spirit time, it occurs to me as clear as day.
Read on to discover this and my many ways to gain clarity, get answers and feel in charge of yourself. You may find answers for yourself.
What do I do you ask?
I AM A SELF-CARE COACH.
I ASPIRE TO INSPIRE...
Self worthiness
Self acceptance
Self honoring
Self care
Self love
Self actualization
Authenticity
Personal passion, purpose, peace and most importantly, how to practice this.
I've known this is my calling for ages.
It's been the compass, the inspiration for my entire career.
I was in my mid teens when I first wrote...
I want to positively impact, inspire and enable each and every person I encounter!
My career evolved as a result of this. First I marketed it as Infinite Vitality and then simply
Teri Gentes - Whole-self Wellness including all aspects of our:
Mental, emotional, physical, nutritional, environmental and spiritual health.
When asked what do you do, I responded with a very short...
I work in wellness and nutrition. Very cryptic and usually the end of the inquiry.
Then I had the very lengthy...
"I work in wellness with a focus on Conscious Mind-setting.
stress management; developing mental and emotional strength; adopting habitual everyday movement; eating nutrient dense, delish meals; creating a healthy environment and connecting with our personal purpose in life."
To much - to detailed and not too helpful.
Whole-Self Wellness has been my umbrella term for whole
self care and self-honoring.
Telling people I help them feel better and live with more energy is now my response.
This means helping discover what approaches best beget them vibrant health, inner harmony and fulfillment. Sounds like a lot?
As you very likely know the path to our well-being begins within and with one thing and one think. (Your mindset matters).
The path to wellness can be anything YOU KNOW YOU NEED TO DO FOR YOU.
Your wellness practice isn't what I, your coach tells you or what the latest trends dictate or the quick-fix promises. When you quiet yourself effectively you'll know what it is and it's likely quite simple. Read on like you're speaking with yourself.
Maybe your wellness practice is... I need to...
- Pause more
- Inhale more deeply, more often
- Get to bed earlier
- Drink more water
- Mind my mind
- Move more everyday
- Eat more whole food
- Take more time for r n r and laughter
- Connect with my purpose, my people, the community more fully and authentically
- Show up authentically for myself more often and stay present in all I do!
This is what I guide people to fully grasp, own and implement. What a job I have right? Reminding people to be nicer to themselves. To take more time to hear and embrace their personal worthiness and purpose. To be nicer to others (it feels so good to do good, to be good.) Assuring them they have all the answers within as well as suggesting ways to find more self-trust and self-reliance and make more time for self-care.
Showing them ways to do it with such ease, it becomes natural, a habit they imprint for life.
How do we dig into more self awareness and self care?
We do this by starting with something that really hooks us beyond mere inspiration and invokes a palpable feeling. Something that generates a sigh of relief or contentment, self satisfaction, excitement, success or awe that we really can 'change'. Be better, feel better, look better.
Where do we go - what do we do to experience a true initiative to take action?
You go within to discover what it is and this brings us back to where I began this.
My answers, my clarity are found in numerous ways.
I find it listening to great teachings from spiritual masters.
I find it exchanging ideas and perspectives with others on a spiritual path.
I find it when practicing energy medicine or tapping and brain training.
I experience it in yoga, strength training, and walking.
It's there when preparing great food for myself and others with a time-line.
I'm encompassed with it speaking to audiences keen to know more and working with clients working on honoring themselves and experiencing the power in this.
I find it sitting by the waterfront and listening to the sounds around me.
Clarity settles within when kayaking, trekking through the trails or by the river.
I find it in surrender, letting go of my desire to direct and simply flowing with life.
Nature is my most powerful place every time I set an intention to find answers to a question and stay present and attentive of subtle signs and clues rather than in my logical head.
In this state, humble gratitude pours from me. Sweet serenity infuses me. Divine grace encompasses me. There's no effort to create it. No agenda or set objective or sought after goal.
The day I penned this I had no idea I would stop by the brook on the trail for this stream of conscious clarity put into words. Especially when I have such a full bladder and a bathroom is only a short walk away. Seems my body has put that urge on hold. This too is divinity in action.
As I contemplate, do I linger here longer, a group of energized kids arrive hopping on the stones. I'm in their way. Time to leave this sanctuary for them to enjoy it as fully as I have. I'm off to the local pub in hopes of seeing my new favorite bartender for a local scotch ale and to let him know - I'm a self-care coach showing others how to tap into their own inner wisdom and overcome the mental, emotional, physical, nutritional, environmental and spiritual issues holding them back from living life in optimal wellness, with grace.
I've devoted well over thirty years to this learning from some of the best teachers and while I am still learning at sixty and always intend to be, I know I too have wisdom to share that begets great results. I am doing what I love. What I know I came here to do. This is self worthiness!
So my question to you... how is your grip on self-worthiness and how can I help you to be your optimal best? Reach out and let's start the discussion now. [email protected]
