With everybody having a varied opinion on the best dietary approach most have no idea on what they need to do. Rather than lamenting on the best specifics look for the commonalities in the various approaches like whole foods and focus on this.
With endless scientific research showing proven results here are with the most basic starting points to implement! Beginning with healthier general habits has a magical way of inspiring you to take better care of all aspects of your health along with diet.
START with what you're truly WILLING, READY and ABLE to do and stick with what's working.
Find YOUR way to a healthier habit and OWN IT.
Make it NON-NEGOTIABLE!
So ingrained in your everyday practice that you do it unconsciously rather like preparing your morning java or taking your shower.
Here is what I guide my clients to do:
SET AN INTENTION EVERY MORNING –
YOUR MANTRA: This is ‘HEALTHY ME’ DAY…
Your attitude and approach are at the crux of your success or failure.
You need to want this and trust you can do it. Believe in yourself and value yourself enough to honor the intentions you set no matter what and if you fall off track for one meal, know you can get back on track for the next one. As we implement healthier habits, we begin to feel better and this is the best motivator to carry on and truly take ownership of our health.
AIM TO DROP 1 BAD HABIT PER WEEK and
ADOPT A GOOD HABIT
For instance: Today I am going to:
- drink 2 additional glasses of water
- drop all fast foods
- avoid all flour products
- eat two new vegetables
- order a plant-based, whole food meal
- move more
- mind my mindset
- meditate 5-10 minutes every day
ENGAGE ASSISTANCE AND CREATE AN ENVIRONMENT conducive to your health objectives
- at work/school bring water,
- pack up healthy snacks for anywhere you go,
- have a healthy info board for articles, ideas, recipes, tips, menus,
- check out health and wellness podcasts,
- bookmark your favorite website resources.
GET and STAY ACTIVE!
Include some form of activity in each day and have 2 - 4 focused fitness days
(cardio conditioning, weight training, aerobics, power walking, swimming, hiking, tennis or any activity you enjoy and will stick with). Movement is a perfect way to detox stress.
GET ADEQUATE REST (6 - 8 hours) and ensure you have some ‘me’ time everyday.
Even five minutes of quiet and a focus on your breath will enable your body and mind to function more efficiently and improve your coping skills. We are nicer people when we take better care of ourselves and we make better decisions.
REMEMBER THIS IS A MOMENT TO MOMENT JOURNEY.
Take it one breath at a time and nurture yourself back to healthy everyday living.
When we take time to stay present in the moment and look for the gifts and grace all around us we seem to attract more and more of it into our lives. It's the law of attraction in action.
Don't simply doubt or trust me - try this practice yourself for experiential learning is proven to be most effective. If you wish, please share your favorite ways to take care of yourself.
You likely have inspirations of your own and we all learn from one another.
I wish you every blessed experience you can possibly imagine and more.
